Magazine Research

This is Ellie Goulding (an artist similar to our own) magazine advert to promote her new album 'Lights'. She has a large image of herself on the front to give a clear indication to her audience who the main artist is and to also make it easier for people who recognise her to notice it more, as she is promoting it by using a picture of herself up close instead of a picture from one of her music videos. She then has her name in bold, gold writing to catch the eye of the audience with the title of her album folllowing underneath - this is all layered very neatly down the page and is clear to follow. The golden spark and shine on the letters and in the artists hair adheres to her album title 'Lights' giving the impression of lights being included in the advert whilst also including the sparkle similar to one of her music videos 'Starry Eyed'. Finally, she has the rating and quotes from varioius tabloids to show the view of others within the media, therefore this may help to attract more people to purchase this album.

This magazine advert of Kate Nash, another artist similar to our own, shows a long shot of the artist standing outside a house which seems as though the image has been edited to create a 'perfect' but 'cute' image. It has the title of the artists album 'Made Of Bricks' which fits well with the image of the front, a brick house, whilst also describing the personality of the artist as being 'made of bricks' in other words a strong individual. The advert has the date the album is released to clearly state when it will be out and when people will be able to purchase or download the album. The number 1 single which Kate Nash produced is portrayed on the front to attract the audience more as it is a very recognisable and catchy song therefore this may pursuade people to buy the whole album. Finally a quote by NME is shown to give the opinion and average opinion of the album by NME.
